Electronic music producer Nexlev has announced ‘Channels EP’ to be released on his own Skelecone label on 23rd September 2022. Following 18 months of self-releasing one track every fortnight, he has amassed a catalogue of 31 releases so far. Growing an incredible following since 2020 his lifelong DJ and production experiences have seen him perform storming drum & bass and jungle sets at two festivals this year. At the Tribal Gathering festival in Warrington in 2022, Nexlev’s two hour set was “talk of the town” – Oz (Festival Director). Earlier in 2022 a release on DJ Hybrid’s Deep in the Jungle Records, as well as playing on a third occasion for Persons Unknown Festival in a reclaimed South Manchester leisure centre, has seen many enthusiastic ravers dancing to Nexlev’s DJ selections and has served as an invaluable testbed for his own productions. He is now a regular at both festivals.

‘Channels EP’ sees Nexlev build on his existing music engineering skills, taking extra time on this release to refine the mixdown to a modern drum and bass level, while accepting nothing less than a vibe that is spot on. Calling from the sound of great d&b jungle artists such as Dillinja and Hazard, the bar has been set high. The resulting sounds push for punchy clear beats, ground up and ripsaw basses, with roller styles and bouncy jump up vibes. Add to this the cheeky, funny and inspiring sampled words of wisdom from some of his favourite YouTube channels, and you’ve got yourself a contender for a classic underground record. This release demonstrates a different approach to sampling than taken in Nexlev’s previous releases.
